BIGAY, John

Hawaii resident since 1983/Makiki res since 1985. Former Peace Corps Volunteer-Fiji. Masters degrees: Ed and Urban Planning (latter fr U.Hawaii). Employed: community/environmental planner: US Navy, 1986-present. Makiki Board #10 member since 1980s. Interests: community-based planning, transportation, noise.

 

CAROLE, Charles H.

A retired environmental planner seeking re-election. Presently, am a board member of Makiki Community Learning Center (Library) and Honolulu league of Women Voters, also vice-chair of the Neighborhood Board. I strive to take area problems + solutions to State + City gov'ts to improve Makiki.

 

CHONG, Diane L.H.

I was a high school teacher for 11 years. The past 8 years, I have been working for the US Coast Guard as an IT technician/web designer. I have lived in the Makiki area almost all of my life. Issues that are important to me, is with transportation, including the Lunalilo On /Off ramp situation.

 

SMITH, Alika K.

To be better informed about community concerns. Enlightened as an individual and a continued learning experience. Help with graffiti, crime, etc…

 

Steelquist, John A.

 I want to continue to serve Makiki. I started on the Board in 1985, became Chair then and continue to help our community. Business professor at Chaminade University, Chamber of Commerce, Hui o Makiki, Rotarian. Thank you for your support, aloha.

HAURET, Phil

Please reelect Phil Hauret. I've been on the Board many years and take responsible positions. I have decades of experience in local business and govt. affairs. The community's emphasis should be on economic projects & better maintenance & upgrade of public facilities.

 

Lee, Allan

*Incumbent. *Retired minister with much experience working with community and neighborhood organizations. * Certified counselor in family therapy. * Instrumental in creating community groups dealing with life issues. *Condominium President.

 

Lee, Eloise

*Incumbent. *28 years public school administration, principal, counselor, teacher. * Hawaii State Ethics Commissioner. *Trustee for the College Board.

 

Mitchell, Sam

Sam is a community organizer who has served on the NB for 16 years. He works at Pearl Harbor Shipyard as a mechanic and union steward. Sam's priorities are noise, graffiti, and factory built infrastructure independent homes. Got a problem call Uncle Sam at 349-4279.

 

SARRAZIN, Mike J.

Aloha! I have lived in Makiki for 28 years. I would like to have this opportunity to serve on the Makiki Neighborhood Board so I could help make our community a better place to live. I am committed to finding solutions to issues like traffic, crime, and pedestrian safety. Mahalo for your vote!

 

Schiller, Martin D.

Presently sits on board #10 for the past 6 yrs. Past board member of #3 for 6 yrs. Capt. in USMC. Past board mem. of American Red Cross, Hawaii Chapter (Chair 87-89 & 92), Chaminade University, Hanahauoli School, Hawaii Public Television, Boy Scouts, Bishop Museum, St. Francis Med. Center, Honolulu Symphony.

Ron has been a resident of Makiki since 1990. He currently works with the Dept. of Land and Natural Resources as a forester. He is interested in natural resource management, sustainable communities and food and energy security.

Sidewalks and pedestrian safety are the main concerns I seek to address.

 

KAWANO, Richard H.

Resident of Makiki since 1976. Chair of candidate's forum, & Health + Safety Committees. Serving to improve our community. Past President of Lincoln Elementary PTSA and Victoria Tower Board of Directors. Owner of R.K. Specialties Engravers. Looking forward to serving again for our community. Mahalo!

A fifteen year resident in the neighborhood, aware of changes & the needs of the area. Innovative, compassionate, involved, resolved to work for the good of the neighborhood. An event coordinator/entertainer, I can communicate effectively & judiciously.

 

YOUNG, Susan L.

Susan has served on NB 10 for over 18 years. She supports all efforts in keeping Makiki a cohesive neighborhood serving a diverse population. She consistently stresses a common sense approach to resolve neighborhood issues. She is a financial advisor and has been your neighbor for over 26 years.
