The Training Branch plans, develops and implements personnel development and training programs to increase employee productivity; prepare employees of the City & County of Honolulu to assume broader responsibilities and improve the efficiency, economy, and quality of public service provided by employees.
During the 2008 fiscal year, over 2,000 employees took advantage of training opportunities to improve their skills and expand their knowledge on a variety of topics. Together, these participants received over 13,500 hours of training. Classes offered include:
Adult CPR/AED and First Aid Cardiovascular Health Ethics Training Effective Buisness Writing Fundamentals of Management Generational Differences Healthy Eating Investigation 101 Minutes Writing/Note Taking People Smarts
City employees may see a complete listing of classes offered in our Training Catalog. To register for a training course, employees should see their supervisor and/or their department training coordinator.
For new employees, the Training Branch conducts new employee orientations. Participants are welcomed to the City by various DHR personnel and receive an introduction to City operations.
