Rescue Squad

 

HFD's Rescue Squads provide specialized equipment, knowledge, skills, and abilities to support Fire Operations in these types of missions:


 

  • Land and Sea Search and Rescue
  • High-angle Rescue
  • Confined Space Rescue
  • Motor Vehicle Accident Extrication
  • 2nd Alarm Response to Building Fires
  • Marine Vessel Fires and Rescue

 

  

 

In 2004 the HFD received funding from the Office of Domestic Preparedness to purchase 2 new vehicles for the Rescue Squads.  The new HFD Rescue Trucks are housed at these stations:

  • Contractor-SVI Trucks
  • Powerplant-Detroit Diesel Series 60 14.0 liter, turbocharged 6-cylinder, 515 HP, DDEC Electronic Governor
  • Transmission-Allison 4000 EVSPR 6-speed automatic with electronic controls & output retarder
  • Brakes-Pneumatic with Meritor Wabco 4 sensor anti-lock braking and air dryer system
  • Cab-Aluminum tilt cab, long four door, 10 seats
