1.  What is the Bus Stop Realignment Project (BSRP)?

The BSRP is the evaluation of all Oahu bus stops (nearly 4000 bus stops).

2.  Why are bus stops being evaluated?

Our bus stops are being evaluated to improve safety and efficiency of our bus system to improve our overall transportation environment.

 

3.  What safety issues are being evaluated?

a) Bus stop located away from crosswalks, traffic signals, and intersections.

b) Bus stops with unsafe site conditions, such as obstructions from utility fixtures, and active driveways.

4.  What efficiency issues are being evaluated?

Bus stops that are closely spaced or have very low usage.

5.  What areas are being evaluated for realignment?

The entire island is being evaluated in phases by geographic area.

6.  What is the timeline for the realignment phases?

- King St. / Beretania St.

- Makakilo Dr.

- Waialae / Palolo

- Ala Moana Blvd. / Kalakaua Ave.

- Kuhio / Monsarrat / Diamond Head

7.  How will I know when the bus stops in my area are being evaluated?

Signs will be posted at affected bus stops and notices will be published in newspapers, including foreign language publications.

8.  When did this project start?

The project began in January, 2006.

9.  When will this project be completed?

Estimated completion date is in 2010.
