CITY SEEKS BUSINESS PARTNERS TO PROVIDE TRAINING FOR YOUTH

            The City and County of Honolulu, through its Oahu Workforce Investment Board, is seeking non-profit and for-profit agencies to provide innovative training for disadvantaged youth, ages 14 to 21, to prepare them for employment in high-growth, high-demand industries, college, or advanced vocational training.

            In discussing the value of these training opportunities in preparing youth for employment, Mayor Mufi Hannemann said, “The City and County of Honolulu recognizes that public-private training partnerships are vital to producing a pipeline of job-ready individuals to serve the needs of businesses and to offering youth pathways to careers in high-growth, high-demand industries.  These partnerships will provide youth with experience, education, and skills to ensure that they are equipped to enter college and career paths that can lead to self-sufficiency.”

The selection of vendors will be in accordance with a request for proposals for qualified vendors, in accordance with Section 103D-102(b)(4), Hawaii Revised Statutes.
