SPECIAL NEIGHBORHOOD BOARD ELECTION RESULTS RELEASED The Neighborhood Commission Office announced the results of the special election for the Nanakuli-Maili Neighborhood Board #36 today. A total of 496 ballots were cast. Twenty-four candidates were vying for nine at-large seats.
The Chair pro-tem will file the first agenda for the Board’s April meeting. At this meeting, the Board will fix its regular meeting day, time, and place, and elect Board officers to serve until the next Neighborhood Board election in 2009. Election results will be verified by the Neighborhood Commission at its meeting this evening. The League of Women Voters served as observers for this election, conducted the vote tally, and certified the election results. The area to be represented by the new board was previously represented by the Residents from Nanakuli and Maili petitioned the Neighborhood Commission last year to form a separate board to represent their communities. The Neighborhood Commission voted 6-to-1 on January 28 to create the new board.
