MAYOR HANNEMANN RELEASES $3 MILLION FOR SEWER REPAIRS

Mayor Mufi Hannemann has released $3 million for important planning, design and construction of repairs and upgrades to the corrosion protection systems of five major sewer lines.

The work will help prevent corrosion of pressurized sewer lines known as force mains, utilizing an electrochemical process known as cathodic protection.

The repairs and upgrades will focus on the Pearl City, Ala Moana, Hart Street, Kamehameha Highway and Waikalua force mains.

The City will seek bids later this year. The selected contractor will perform field assessments that will determine the extent of necessary repairs and upgrades. The City will then review the recommendations and decide how to proceed with construction.
