The 2007 Honolulu City Lights souvenir t-shirt "12 Days of Christmas, Hawaiian Style," has been printed on a green shirt and is now available in children's and adult sizes at the Honolulu City Store in Ala Moana Center.

You can also purchase the t-shirt on the grounds of Honolulu Hale on opening night, December 1, and each weekend during the month of December. Don't miss getting the souvenir t-shirt when you come down to see the lights.

In its 23rd year, the 2007 "Honolulu City Lights" celebration will embrace the many wonderful characteristics and uniqueness of the people of Hawaii and our island home.  This year's theme, "Ku'u Home ~ Our Home," highlights Honolulu, a special place where diverse cultures intertwine, where history blends, and where we embrace and share the Spirit of Aloha with our families, friends and visitors.

Honolulu City Lights is Hawaii's premiere holiday event and is sponsored by Mayor Mufi Hannemann, the employees of the City and County of Honolulu, the Friends of Honolulu City Lights and many community-minded businesses.  Each year it draws hundreds of thousands of people to Honolulu Hale (City Hall) and the Civic Center grounds.  On opening night alone, 75,000 guests join in to kick-off the holiday season.

This year's surprise will be the unveiling of a new outdoor exhibit created by apprentices from the local Carpenter's Union and City artisans from the Parks and Recreation Department. The popular "Ku'u Home" plantation house in the Honolulu Hale Courtyard will serve as "Santa's House" when he's in residence listening to wishes of island children. And, once again, employees from the more than 20 city departments will delight everyone with their beautifully decorated Christmas Trees as a gift to the people of Hawaii and to visitors from around the world.  A stroll through Honolulu Hale will be a special time of sharing ~ sharing our City pride and our "Ku'u Home ~ Our Home."

Opening festivities were held on Saturday, December 1, 2007, at City Hall, followed by a month long holiday celebration to include the beautiful City Employee's Christmas Tree Exhibit, Wreath displays, strolling musicians and entertainment, and nightly visits with Santa.
