Community Based Development Division
The Community Based Development Division (CBDD) works in partnership with the private for-profit and nonprofit sectors and other government agencies to address affordable and special needs housing and shelter and supportive services for people in need. These are our functions:
- secure and administer competitive homeless assistance grant funds under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Continuum of Care Program for persons experiencing homelessness;
- provide continued emphasis on fair housing awareness;
- attract and secure funding and financing for community development and housing from alternative sources to maximize the leveraging of City resources; and
- coordinate the implementation of the following programs:
Fair Housing Office
CBDD also includes the Fair Housing Office which promotes fair housing awareness through information, workshops, and meetings to the general public and to organizations working in the housing field. The Fair Housing Office reviews complaints and coordinates with appropriate agencies to assist persons with fair housing issues.
Workshop -- April 22, 2015 -- Fair Housing Overview Training:
This free one-day workshop is designed to increase your knowledge of federal and state fair housing laws including reasonable accomodation/modification requests, recent trends, housing options, the landlord/tenant code and more. It is open to the public and may be of most interest to tenants, landlords, resident/property managers, AOAO board members, service providers working with disabled populations.
